Travelling On A Dream~

On Saturday which was the 10th of June, 2023, I stepped on a platform that many of my country's people dreamt of for a long time. As a child, I was always fascinated by train journeys(or metro rail journeys). The rattle of wheels against the tracks, the whir of metal against metal, and the rumbling sound that spilled across the whole atmosphere dug a special place in my heart.

My maternal side of the family hailed from Kolkata, a city much remembered for its significant presence in British history, a city bustling with old architecture and religious and cultural festivals. It is teeming with literary spices, with joyous people, mouth-watering food, and last but not least, a harmony that intertwines all the people living in it, as if all of them are united by an invisible gravitational bondage to their soil and people.

Whenever I went to Kolkata, travelling on trams were one of the most enjoyable experiences that I would write on my to-do list. It was a must-do for every journey in Kolkata. Aside from the renowned street food it had to offer, Kolkata's trams added to its luxury and beauty of the city.

This is why I was always enthralled by rail journeys, whether it be by train or tram. Travelling on them was like sweeping past a dream, much like Jasmine's carpet in Aladdin. It was like swimming in an ocean of fantasy, peering out to see the world unfold under our very eyes, and bathe in feelings one can hardly shred into words.

And so, on that very Saturday, my family and I, set out to venture what all the new metro rail had to offer. I must say, as the car approached the station, the pace of my heart grew with every minute. We entered the station, and what fell upon my glance, was the spotless, clean floors that did not have even a spume of dust swirling above it.

Once we stepped onto the train, I was pleased. It was a decent environment, clean, and commendable. Simple instructions were commanded to make sure no one fell behind, and everyone was able to comprehend what was required easily. The view from the windows was something I was looking forward to, and I must say, it surely did not disappoint me.

The calm waters flowing their way, the flat stretch of land teeming with agriculture, the tall, high-rise buildings plated with shimmering panes of glass, the winding city streets on which strands of golden sunlight bathed, the placid cyclist striding through the bustling towns, and the tranquility that lingered within these scenarios made the train journey look more majestic and royal.

The metro rail journey was an experience I would never forget, and I would vouch to do it again. A huge round of applause for all those who made this dream form shape, this distant thought to take form, this fantasy to turn into reality, and this idea to turn into a fact. It was all incredibly beautiful.
