A gentle cool breeze unfurled into the room today morning, and kissed my feet as it passed by. I awoke. I knew today was Christmas. Christmas celebrations are rarely observed in the neighborhood that I reside in, so today was no different. I was not only excited because of Christmas, but also because tomorrow I would be going for a camp adventure tomorrow morning to another district for five days. This fed my interest, and I was soon sitting on my living room sofa imagining all the activities that I would face in my camp. I woke up quite early, at around 15 minutes to 8, and sat down to engulf myself in books and spine-tingling plots.
I am currently reading “To Kill A Mockingbird” authored by Harper Lee. The characters of the play lure me in with their activities and personality to such an extent that often I find myself lost in the world of the Finches and the Maycomb County. However, unlike earlier mornings, today I was attentive enough to notice the movements of the birds that visit my balcony occasionally.
A little bit of information about my balcony: I have an attached balcony with the living room, quite spacious enough to house plants, which are tended to by my mother. Bougainvillas, Periwinkles, and other flowers have found a special place in our balcony. Situated at the corner of the balcony is a small space designed for the many birds that enjoy paying a visit to our balcony.
Morsels of food and a bowl of water is given everyday to those amiable birds who not only like enjoying the food, but also the idyllic atmosphere found in the balcony.
Every morning, either my mom or I, give chunks of bread to the birds, and surprisingly, they have started adapting to this routine. Before we open our eyes, I can frequently hear the ramblings and twittering of the birds waiting to receive their daily breakfast. It also acts like a natural alarm!
Breakfast was bought from outside. Having a warm breakfast during winters are life-savers! We then proceeded to pack my bag for tomorrow, and became quite pre-occupied with the necessities I would need for my travel. My excitement grew as I put each of my things in my bag, so did my fear.
After lunch, we retired to bed. My mother and I have a habit of lazing in bed during the afternoons, which the Mexicans might refer to as “afternoon vistas”. This gives us the energy we need for working during the evenings. My palpitation and imaginations prevented me from sleeping, so I spent my time watching various videos on the Internet.
The evening did not have a lot of activities as I wanted to take it easy today. I visited my grandfather’s place where I was greeted with evening snacks. We mingled for a long time until at last, I made up my mind to go write.
I returned to my house, and started writing my own blog. This is the first entry, and I hope I can keep it up!
Wish me good luck, so that I do not embarrass myself and fall down from the tree!
